Sbicca Bistro serves delicious modern American cuisine in a seaside village setting with an ocean view from its terrace. It won the San Diego Restaurant Association’s Gold Medallion Award in 2010 for Best Neighborhood Restaurant.
In 2006 it also received the Chef of the Year Award from the San Diego Restaurant Association.
Your host is congenial owner Dan Sbicca, who has truly created a Del Mar treasure. It is unpretentious yet sophisticated and frequented by an upscale crowd of locals from around the Del Mar area especially during the horse racing season in the summer .
Tuesday and Thursday are half-price wine by the bottle nights, so be sure to make reservations.
For the best ocean-view seating, ask for table 301. A great beginning to any meal should be a cup of the lobster-shrimp bisque. Also delicious is the marvelous maple roasted pork prime rib with vanilla scented sweet potatoes along with a bourbon chantilly sauce.
For dessert order the fudge brownie with espresso gelato topped with a chocolate and carmel sauce.
They are also big on banquets here. You can even rent out the entire restaurant for up to 200 people, or for smaller groups, reserve the wine room with its ocean view, which accommodates up to 16 people.
It’s open for lunch Mon.–Fri., 11:30 a.m.–3 p.m., weekend breakfast & lunch Sat.–Sun., 9 a.m.–3 p.m.($7.25–$21); dinner nightly from 5 p.m. ($14–$28). Happy hour daily 4 p.m.–6:30 p.m. in the bar.
