In the heart of Balboa Park is a traditional Japanese Garden like those found through Japan. It’s setting is an idyllic retreat, radiating serenity, simplicity and beauty. So it is no wonder that it is one of the most sought after locations for weddings and special events. Visitors to this serene retreat will undoubtedly its traditional Japanese setting. The Garden was created in 1991 and is an expression of the friendship between San Diego and it’s sister city, Yokohama, Japan. Do take this opportunity to immerse yourself into the Japanese culture. Must see attractions within this 12-ace Garden is of course their exquisite koi ponds, stone arrangements, water features, 200 cherry tree grove and their stunning sukiya-style buildings and traditional Japanese landscape. The Japanese Friendship Garden is a member of the 26 member Balboa Park museum association and is dedicated to the cultural development of San Diego.
