Horse Racing Fans can enjoy the best of two worlds by also enjoying the thrill of the “Sport of Kings” when the Del Mar Live Venue is not in season at the Surfside Race Place at 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd., (858-792-4278) surfsideraceplace.com.  Admission for Racing fans for General Admission is ($5), Saddle Club daily admission ($10)  (includes a program), except for Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup. Free any day horse racing for those with active-duty military ID. Free admission to Night Racing on Sundays.

Horse racing aficionados get their heart pounding at the Surfside Race Place in Del Mar.Surfside Race Place, which is open Wednesday through Sunday (closed most Mondays & Tuesdays) during the day, and Friday through Sunday, day and night.  Surfside is closed during the Del Mar live race meets.

Surfside Race Place is one of the nation’s largest and most prestigious sports bars and off-track betting facility (90,000 sq. ft.). It is located in the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The off track betting facility is open during the off season of the Del Mar Racetrack live meets, and offers day and night racing with over 1000 televisions and live wagering of major racetracks.

The venue has been used for handicapping contests, as well as handicapping seminars.

The 2014 Handicapper of the year Jose Arias qualified and won here. He then received a check for $750,000!

The sports bar Surfside Race Place gives horse racing fans excitement by broadcasting races via satellite from around the country. Race fans can view and bet by satellite on other racetracks such as Aqueduct, Arlington Park, Belmont Park, Calder, Cal Expo Harness, Churchill Downs, Delaware Park, Ellis Park, Fair Grounds,Golden Gate FieldsGulfstream Park, Hastings, Hawthorne, Kentucky Downs, Laurel, Los Alamitos, Meadowlands, Monmouth Park, Oaklawn, Pimlico, Remington, Santa Anita Park, Saratoga, Sunland Park, Turfway Park, Victoria Race Tracks, and Woodbine.

The cream of the crop is viewing the high-stakes races such as the Dubai World Cup.  Also, Grade 1 races such as the Kentucky DerbyPreakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes which combined form the Triple Crown.,

Surfside Race Place currently offers Bingo on Sundays.

They have multiple food and drink options throughout the day. Every morning from 9am to 10 am they serve free coffee for patrons who come in early.

Following the free coffee, a carving stand opens up. This has a daily special which changes each day. The menu includes salads, soups and fresh carved sandwiches. Across from the Carving Stand is a small bar, which serves a variety of food, as well as drinks and also allows patrons the option to order food from the exclusive Saddle Club. The Saddle Club also has a daily special which changes day to day.

The Saddle Club has its own special menu, which is a sit down restaurant located upstairs in Surfside Race Place.
