La Mesa Village hosts a number of seasonal events throughout the year such as La Mesa Village Oktoberfest, Christmas in the Village, the Back to the ’50s Car Show, Antique Street Faire and more.Oktoberfest
The most popular event in La Mesa Village each year is our annual Oktoberfest celebration. 2012 marks the 39th year, it has become the oldest and largest celebration in East County, with more than 200,000 visitors during the three days of the event.Christmas In The Village For more than ten years we have looked forward to just one weekend in December when La Mesa Village is transformed into a holiday wonderland. Throughout the entire holiday season the neighborhood is beautifully lit and decorated, but on this special Friday and Saturday night it becomes a magical place reminiscent of times past, an old fashioned Christmas in the Village.Back to the 50’s Car Show One of the most popular events in La Mesa Village is our Thursday Night Car Show, along La Mesa Blvd. between Acacia and Fourth Streets. This is the 20th year of the Car Show and it continues to grow in popularity. It is a time for friends and families to gather, enjoy supper in one of our local restaurants, and stroll the boulevard in our balmy weather.Antique Street Faire Join us for the 6th annual event. The street faire area will include La Mesa Boulevard, from Spring Street east to 4th Street, much of the same area in which the La Mesa Oktoberfest is held annually. Featuring 100 Vendors, displaying genuine antiques & collectibles only, appraisals & demonstrations, food with free parking and admission!Children’s Book Festival Sunday is a great day to spend with the family. So bring the family to A Children’s Book Festival in La Mesa on Sunday, May 20, 2012 10am-4pm, where you will meet lots of authors, learn to sketch cool characters with the illustrators that created them – that’s just a couple of the really cool things you can do at this totally kid/family based event focused on literacy, education, health and nutrition.Flag Day Parade On July 14, 1997, with the vision and commitment of Councilwoman Ruth Sterling, the City of La Mesa inaugurated its First Annual Flag Day Parade. On this same day the City’s new official flag was presented to Mayor Art Madrid. Since that day the beautiful new blue flag has flown at City Hall beneath the American Flag.Farmer’s Market Farm-fresh goods are offered for sale by certified vendors in the parking lot at the intersection of University Avenue and Spring Street. The Farmers Market takes place every Friday afternoon from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. |
