This particular charity is a personal one as it was founded by a close friend of Arturo whos son was diagnosed with a rare cancer at only 16 months old. Since then, they have made it their mission to make a real and lasting impact on the field of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology and take profound strides in the treatment of brain and spinal cord tumors
If anyone is deserving this holiday season it is most definitely the brave children who fight for their lives.
A little about how Celebrating Futures at Rady’s Children started:
Rady Children’s Neuro-Oncology program is the only program in the San Diego region providing comprehensive care to children and young adults with brain and spinal cord tumors. Thanks to philanthropic investment, Rady Children’s cares for more than 500 children with central nervous system tumors, who travel from across the western United States and beyond to access cutting-edge treatments and new therapies they can’t access elsewhere.
Inspired by their son, Nathan, Andrew and Denise Gordon began their fundraising efforts for RadyChildren’s Hospital’s Neuro-Oncology program in 2011. In 2014, The Gordon Fellowship in Pediatric Neuro-Oncology was established to sustain and grow clinical programs and advance translational research in the critically important field of pediatric Neuro-Oncology. The program, in conjunction with UCSD, has a unique and unparalleled opportunity to collaborate with Rady Children’s Institutefor Genomic Medicine and The Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute to develop thenext generation of personalized treatment for every child’s individual tumor.
