For the second consecutive year in September, we will host El Grito: Mexican Independence Day Celebration. Please join us for a free concert featuring Madame Ur y Sus Hombres on Saturday, September 14 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Tijuana-based musical duo Madame Ur y Sus Hombres will headline the event starting at 11:15 a.m. At 12:00 noon, there will be a workshop featuring Ballet Folklorico El Tapatio de San Dieguito, which will present traditional Mexican folk dances. There will be other participatory events with craft making for kids and their adults, along with a taco stand, margaritas, and Mexican beer. At 1:30 p.m. the Mexican Consulate in San Diego will raise the flag and sing the Mexican National Anthem followed by “El Grito” commemorating that historic night. Our special host Tony Valencia will introduce and explain all aspects of this marvelous celebration, both in English and Spanish!
